Workshop: Creating Creative Processes

In this workshop, dance artist Marit Shirin Carolasdotter will walk you thorugh and demonstrate a methodological approach to creative processes in the realm of performative practices. We will learn tools such as scoring, writing and instant composition to shed new perspectives on creating creative processes, from idea to the creation of material.

'Material' can include; movement (dance practice) choreography, visual or physical concepts, relations, documented thoughts, writings, research and more.

Wether you are a student of fine arts, movement practitioner, actor, visual or performance artist, this workshop is meant for local practitioners to learn from experience outside of institutions, or if you are just curious on how to get on with creating and get started on your new idea.

About the teacher:

Marit Shirin is a dance artist/maker with MA in Fine Arts from Stockholm University of the Arts. She has worked as a professional dancer in Brussels, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Reyjavík, Tokyo, Osaka and Denmark amongst others. Since 2019 she is working with the project 'Humans & Soil' that is an artistic platform committed to decolonizing academic practices and revitalizing our ancient indigenous relationship with the Earth. Working with a theoretical and practical approach to dance, she is currently part alumni som SKH working with research on diversity, and decolonial studies in Sweden, Belgium, Netherlands and Switzerland. 

Her latest work as a choreographer was "Jarkelidh" commissioned by Riksteatern 2023, and "of itself : in itself" comissioned by Norrlandsoperan 2021.
